Default First Gun Buy of 2020

OK, who has the earliest gun buy of 2020?

I'll go first. At appx noon on 01/01/2020 I purchased a 6.5" barreled Model 24-6 that someone was kind enough to have fitted with genuine S&W GA target stocks rather than the Altamont copies they came with. Anybody earlier than that? And yes, I know - pictures...

Let's see them.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I will have fun reading of exploits, but for myself... I’m hoping to slow my roll. 2019 was a big year for acquisitions for my safe.

I didn't say "take possession of" just buy - which I consummated at the time specified.

Besides, you're in CA (worse than NJ) so don't you have a ten day waiting period? If so, that means you bought yours in Dec 2019. What is it BTW?

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I actually purchased it in late November (?) As a consignment. It passed a 30 day background . And on the 23rd of December, applied for my 10 day background. So, I'll pick it up tomorrow.
We usually dont wait for a consignment background, but it had just landed at the LGS. So, usually it's just the 10 days for the consignment or ppt. And we get unlimited # of those /month.
If it's a new gun. Its "one new gun per month " only.

Yes. I know you said "purchased " and not taken "possession ".

Aha! Gotcha! All that 30 day and 10 day rigamarole has my head spinning. I wasn't kidding when I said that it's worse than New Jersey.

You still haven't told us what it is.

Have a good year.

Adios,

Wow, I am so glad I live in a free state in the United States of America!
Saw this nice little model 10 - 5 for sale. Emailed the guy at 2 o 'clock, he called me back at 3:50, I bought it from him at 4:30 and took it home.
Really makes me appreciate living in Florida!

03Hemi had a great lunch!
Picked it up this afternoon.
Old school 4506 with adjustable sights .45acp. Not in perfect shape, but pretty decent. Came with the DeSantis Holster, 4 mags, OEM plastic grips still unopened and KSD palm swell grips. I'll probably beef the springs up to the .45 super I've always wanted, why waste the weight? $535.00 OTD.

And heeeere it is!

It's a 586-4 2.5"!
It needs cleaning. I actually just got home from lunch.

Barrel is marked "357 magnum". So, it's not from the Brazilian run. RB. D&T frame.
When I purchased it, it came with those Hogues. But it had the wood grips in the case. So that's a bonus. They just need a little TLC. They have some "light" finish Mark's, but nothing I cant fix. I'm sure, this being a -4, it had to come with rubber grips originally (?). But not the Hogues. So, those RB grips might be from another gun.

Very nice! The dash 4's are the epitome of 586 production. I would guess that the rubber Hogue's are the OE grips. The combats are a huge bonus. I do have a Brazilian 586-4, and while it differs in some ways from the guns produced for domestic consumption, it did come with rubber Hogue's.

Congratulations on a fine "New Year" score.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

My first buy of the new year (today) is a Model 586-3, with 4" barrel. I bought to shoot, but it looks unfired other than at the factory. I will probably shoot it anyway. Pics coming soon.

Lou,
Guessing the Combats were original to your sweet 586-4 Snubbie. Every post I've seen have the Combat Finger Groove grips on the 2 1/2" er's. Just to confuse the issue more, attached is S&W Archive Letter on my 586 Snubbie stating it was shipped with "Checkered Walnut" round butt grips. Would that be Magnas"? Oh well...Go figure...
Anyway...Congrats on your fantastic purchase!

This is clearly not the right place to admit it, but I picked up my Kel Tec CP33 that I had ordered in April (!) at the LGS on January 2nd.

I don’t count it as “mine” until I’m in possession of it. (What if it’s really not as advertised, and you have to refuse delivery for a refund)

That being said ... Day after Christmas I bought a 6” M66-5

- sent USPS money order on the 27th
- guy didn’t ship until this past Friday
- tracking puts it at local post office right now, so it’ll be at my FFL tomorrow

Sooooooo - My first gun of 2020 will be tomorrow. Hopefully.

Kind of sounds like you're in New Jersey. LOL. I have three guns sitting at my FFL right now waiting for a Multiple Purchase Exemption (MPE) to come through. My New Years Day purchase will be separate from them and may be before or after I get the MPE depending on when that comes through.

I do have enough permits for the three guns on the MPE but need to apply for more to cover the New Year's purchase.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I do have enough permits for the three guns on the MPE but need to apply for more to cover the New Year's purchase.
