another 1 today 586 in 38 special . might be an overrun of the export 586-5

Check to see if .357 ammo will chamber... it does in my .38 Special 686.

Nice find! I haven't seen one with square butt like your 586-5. Maybe someone will confirm the difference in the -5's and -4's. I think the -5's preceded production of the -4's.
Attached is a portion of my lettered 586-4 Brazilian round butt giving some info on these 38 Specials.

There was also a Railroad police (PaRR ??) 586 or 686 in .38
