Default Changing hand for no-dash SW model 60?

Hello all. If a SW model 60 has slow timing, anyone have a video or link to replace the hand? Larry Potterfield suggests an oversized hand and then filing?

Larry’s video is pretty good. You need to know the diameter of the hand you have and what you need. In the days past you could order hands by a certain width and then an over size hand which you pretty much knew was going to require fitting.

Have you ruled out cylinder end-shake as the problem? End-shake will allow the hand to release the ratchets too early, and cause timing issues. End-shake is an easy fix compared to fitting a new hand.

To eliminate options, send it back to Smith tell them what it's doing.

I had similar problems on a 65-2 a few years back and sent in in the S&W for repair. They installed and oversized hand and a new trigger return spring and the spring for the cylinder bolt(?) and my total cost was about a hundred bucks. Well worth the 6 week turn around time.
