Check the serial number on the bottom of the grip frame.....it should be an alpha-numeric sequence with 3 letters followed by 4 numbers. The number you listed does not conform. A "BDZ" (if what you list as a "2" is in fact a "Z") alpha prefix would be May of 1989.

The marking on the yoke is a work number for keeping the frame and fitted yoke together. The same number is on the side of the grip frame.

The serial number is not correct as stated above. Its a 5 shot J frame which is basically a stainless version of the Model 36 Chiefs Special. A Model 60-3 should have been produced between 1988 and 1990. If the 1st 2 letters of the serial number are BD that also bears that out.
The model 60 is a great gun for CCW as it doesn't rust and conceals very well. Those grips are not the originals but they will shoot nicely. A set of Uncle Mike's boot grips will conceal better and are pretty standard on these guns that are sold now. It most likely shipped with magna stocks/ grips.

I'm sure you have noticed that the hammer has been bobbed to facilitate drawing the revolver without snagging on the hammer spur.

I don't presume to know your wife's capabilities with firearms, but snub nosed revolvers are difficult to shoot accurately especially in double action mode. The very short sight radius magnifies any slight error in sight alignment. Recoil can also be an issue in light weight firearms. I hope your purchase works out for her.
