SW 460 & SW500 optics
Would you mount a Leupold Delta Pro 7.5 moa red dot 🔴 on a SW460 and a Leupold 2.5x8x32mm handgun scope on SW500 or vice-a-versa. Both are hunting tools out to 100-150 yards would be my range. 😎

Regarding the red dot, I think a 7.5MOA dot is WAY too big.
For red dot or conventional optic, make sure you contact the manufacturer and specifically ask if it will hold up to heavy 500/460 Mag loads.
Just for grins, I bought a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot. Had previously called Bushnell and asked if it would survive my 500 Mags? Bushnell rep said it worked on 3.5" 12 ga shotshells.
Well, the type of recoil generated by the 500 Mag must be very different. I fired one cylinder of medium heavy handloads and destroyed the red dot. It looked like a defective fish with the front lens at about 40 degrees from original. Tossed it in the trash. Don

Agree 100% on the dot size being too big, especially at the range the OP is talking about. It will cover up a lot of real estate at 150 yards. The purpose of the larger size is fast acquisition of short range targets. Also, your experience with Bushnell mimics an experience I had with one of their product a long time ago and I've not bought a Bushnell product since.
OP, I think a quality dot like the Leupold will be fine, but would consider using a scope instead, preferably one of the variable powered ones like Leupold makes.

7.5 MOA would be good for fast shooting at 10 to 15 yards. At 100 yards the dot will be huge. For 100 yards, 3 MOA or less is what I’d go for.

Reply: the 7.5 is a solid red triangle. I zeroed it at the top point of the triangle at 75 yds with a laser bore sight. (7.5” barrel) It shot
fine. Pretty easy to get use to with minimal practice. Just line the target resting on the point. Took a deer at approx.72yrds. Ran across a hunter at the club who had the exact setup for the last two seasons, has the exact Delta Pro on his 460. Thinking 💭 I will do the same and put the scope on the 500. My FFL called Leupold and they said it was made with the larger bore pistols in mind. Thanks for all the input. Nice chatting.
