You are absolutely correct but the end result, less accuracy, remains the same.

With my K frame 3" 9mm I have no problem with accuracy.

The K frame 3" is a great size and balance for a revolver.

I forgot about the three J frames I own. I carry the 60-15 frequently but also have a blue 36-1 and a nickel 36. Thanks for the reminder.

Are you asking if a 3" barrel is enough? Or can you have enough if them?

Yes to the first, no to the second:

Default Long Distance Relationships don't work

While reading this thread I realize I haven't shot this
S&W 696-1 44S&W Special at long distance yet.

Total disregard to Rule #10 - Know where my Revolvers
Point of Impact is at 100yards.

Since shooting this once Safe Queen before I got it, 10yds
to 16yds, takes a lot of concentration to hit a 2" black target.
It's 5" Sight Plain does help some what.

I do know at the Tupperware Pistol Standard Range (TSR) of 7yards,
that Model 696-1 clusters it's 5rds better than the Plastic Pistols
Repeaters, from what I've seen.

S&W 3" Barrels are cool, and forever.

Here are some of my 3 inch guns.

64-6, 64-5, 65-5, 65-3.

And a pair of 60-10s

This 64-5 is my prize possession. It was a regular 4” DAO and I converted it to 3” 357 while tightening the gun up better than factory.

The only downside I can think of is the fact that many states have a 4 inch minimum bbl length for hunting.

Works for me.

I never quite understood J-frames with longer barrels like 3" but bigger guns, sure, very sexy. Mine sleeps under the pillow next to me. She's very polite and never snores.
