Default S&W 11760 PC 686 Plus Hogue Grips

I just received my new Smith & Wesson 11760 Performance Center 686 Plus today and I have a question regarding the Hogue overmolded synthetic grips that ship with the gun.

Are these grips the same as the Hogue round butt rubber tamer conversion monogrip 19022 (UPC: 743108190227)?

I want grips which tame the recoil of the .357 magnum cartridges as much as possible, and I always enjoy changing grips. I called Hogue and they said that their monogrip is different but I wasn't so certain.

If they say the grips a different then they must be..
Maybe a wider grip is what you want.

Those grips are different. The tamers have a covered backstrap to manage more recoil , but the grips themselves are thicker. By a bit.
The ones that come standard on that gun have an exposed backstrap. And are rubber.

You should try shooting the gun first. There isnt much recoil to it.

thanks,
