Altamont Round Combat on 625
Anyone had any experience with these?
I have a few grips for my 625-8 but these look very attractive.

Yes, I have several but none are checkered. For me the fit, finish and ergonomics are very nice.
Here are a set of smooth, walnut Altamonts on my 686-4.

I tried a set of round butt combats from Altamont. One for an N frame and an L frame.
They looked great! Fit good. The Ahrends on both guns felt better at the time. I think I sold 2 RB combats to fellow gunners here locally. I kept a walnut RB L frame combat on my 986 for a bit. It worked fine. ...maybe shot 1k rounds? So it had a passing grade. But I ended up putting. Some Ahrends Moradillo ones. And they are on the gun today.
I couldn't shoot any wood grips comfortably enough on my 625 JM. And went back and forth, back and forth from rubber to wood. Rubber would be my preference on it.
Here are the pics.

@LouTW:
Rubber-wood-rubber.... BTDT. I have this ongoing battle between functionality and looks, too. I got my 625 secondhand and it came with Hogues. Ugly but comfortable. The Ahrends and Altamont Targets look beautiful but don't handle the recoil quite as well. Then I went "semi-ugly" with Pachmayr Presentations, which are a bit too big for my hands.
Mind you, I've been shooting fairly stiff 255 gr. FP loads in AR brass "just because I could" so the next time I get to the range with it I'm going to try slightly lighter loads. If I were shooting regular .45 ACP loads the wooden grips would probably be fine.
