Default Model 57 / Nice Bonus

I bought a 6" nickel Model 57 last week and it arrived at my FFL yesterday. I realized that I had essentially bought this gun sight unseen, having only viewed some photos of parts of the gun. Went over to my dealer this morning with some trepidation.

The gun was supposed to come with the presentation case (sans flocking - which I knew) and with tools. My dealer hadn't even unpacked it yet to log it in, so he let me do it.

I pull out the presentation case - not in bad shape, but not great - missing a hinge pin. OK, easily remedied. Look inside and while there is a cleaning rod, swab and brush, there is no SAT. A small disappointment. While I was doing this, some other folks in the shop were examining the gun. I heard the usual collection of ohhhs and ahhhs and then somebody says, "You know the rear sight leaf is broken?" OK, this is getting tiresome - but then I look at the gun itself, and aside from being in very nice shape, it is wearing a beautiful set of square-butt goncalo alves combat stocks. Ha! All is forgiven. Adding that into the equation, this was a great value.

Needs to be shined-up a little.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

Very nice find Pizza Bob. Are you planning on shooting it?

That's a looker Bob. I think the combats would've eased the pain too.

Shhhhhh! Don't ask, don't tell.

Probably won't shoot it, but you can never tell.

This being NJ (as was aptly pointed out by Old Cop) I can't take possession of it until April 14th, because I just picked up my March gun today.

Adios,

Pizza Bob
