I have a Model 625-5 5" I purchased what I was told was new old stock from a Dealer many years ago. The Gun came in a one piece blue box with Model 625, Caliber .45, Barrel 5, fin S, Stock RB, Features BLK PATRIDGE, S/N BEAXXXX, P/C 100927, Spec. Ord 9283. I have not shot this Firearm. Yesterday I took it out and and was comparing the info on the box using the standard Catalog of S&W. according to the S/N on the Box it was made in Oct of 1989 and according to the product code should have had Model of 1989 on the Barrel which it does Not. so hear is where it starts. On the Yoke Cut is stamped 625-5 but no S/N so I remove the Factory Rubber Grips to see the S/N and it reads SDSXXXX when I run that number it shows that it was Mfg in May of 2002 which means it should have MIM Hammer and Trigger and the internal Lock which it does NOT so You can imagine I'm totally confused and how is this even possible. I have owned many many S&W firearms since 1970 when I became a Police Officer and I have never even heard of any thing like this. Two more bits of info, the Patridge Sight is the removable type or interchangeable and I verified the both S/Ns with S&W Customer Service and that's all they could tell Me, I know, surprise surprise. So if anyone has any ideas please let Me know. Thanks
