Default Custom S&W 500 revolver

I have been wracking my brain trying to remember the name of a man, possibly 1rst name "John" who modifies S&W 500 revolvers. He tightens the cylinder gap (and possibly other things). He sells S&W 500 revolvers.

I apologize for the vagueness of this post, but that is all I can remember. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you!

I believe you are looking for John Ross. He is actually a member of this forum, but according to his member profile has not visited in over a year.

He designed and commissioned S&W to make 500 of these. 250 like the one I have and 250 in all satin stainless.

Default Are the JR commissioned 500s available?

Are the John Ross 500s available? I visited a couple of auction sites that were 10+ years old where a JR 500 was auctioned. Price was pretty stiff for one of the 500s; it went for $4200 and some change.

They do come to auction occasionally.

My suggestion would to watch gunbroker.

Expected sale range between 1800 and 2200 which of coarse depends on those bidding.

good luck

I got mine from John Ross. I don't know if he has any left. I know his #1's were on the Rock Island auction site last year.

I traded some Emails with John about 5 years ago. He had some for sale at the time. He was asking $1500.00. I regret not buying one then.

I contacted him a couple years ago, and it would take him weeks to reply. Some revolvers were still left last year. It did take a few months for delivery according to the posts a couple people reported.

I own one of John's guns that I bought from him but, haven't heard much about him lately? Hope he's alright?
