Default M69 with Hi-Viz fiber optic front sight

These days I need the front sight to be as visible as possible. I just had a Hi-Viz fiber optic front sight put on my M69, and I couldn't be happier. It's much better than the factory red ramp.

I put night sights on mine. I really would like to do the combination Made now so I have both fiber optic and night all in one like I put on my sig 220. They however only make a front for a J frame, no other revolvers as of yet that I am aware of.

John, I just ordered a fiber optic front sight for my 629-6. I looked at revolvers with both the red and green and I was able to see the red better. I guess all our eyes can't be the same.

Hi Ed,

There's a general thought that the human eye picks up green better, but it's impossible to make generalizations. I happen to prefer the green over the red, but I've been using red dot sights for decades with no problem. But as soon as one became available with a green dot, I bought it!

With these sights, it's easy to change the pipes too.

Best of luck with the new sight!

Hi Tony,

Here's what I ordered:
I went with Hi-Viz because all the other fiber optic sight manufacturers that I checked seem to be concentrating solely on the J-frames. The Hi-Viz sizing was perfect for the M69 with the 2.75" barrel. Total cost of the order with shipping was under $55.

I had my local gunsmith install it, for which he charged $100 that I was happy to pay. The installation would have been a bear for anyone without the right tools and right skills. It would be very easy to screw up the pin hole in the base of the sight on the barrel due to the teeny drill bit required. He told me it was a bit of a pain, but I rather him than me because he knows what he's doing.

Good idea and it did help. The red dot helped even more.
