Default Advice for larger wood grips for 66-5 .

I have large hands and am looking for wood grips that fill the gap between round and square s&w coke size grips .Has any body used such a large size grip on a model 66 for concealed carry.I would be open to any suggestions from any past experiences you may have had Thank You.

I have an old set of Herritts wood grips on my 4” Model 66 that cover the backstrap. That may be too big for concealment but they’re perfect for the range, especially w/hard recoiling magnum rounds.

Default wood grips for s&w 66

Thank YOU for the help. Herrits are well made stocks , hoping to find a pair of smooth combat stocks . Hand filling but not larger then the 66 itself, trying to stay with-in concealment size .

Try looking at Altamont Co.

Default Hogue also

If I may also recommend Hogue:

K and L Frame Round Butt - K and L Frame Revolvers - Grips for Smith & Wesson - Handgun Grips - Hogue Products

Personally I prefer Hogue. Altamont my experience is that they are nicely made (especially like their composite and laminate wood materials) but to me at least they are too thin. That and on the back side all I tried tended to have sharp corners. Almost seems that Altamont never tests shooting with their grips on. Shooting Magnums with Altamont grips on is a bit like doing this:

I have large hands myself and am very fond of the old Factory RB Combat grips.

Fortunately several vendors are copying that shape, Here is a set on one of my Model 66s

Here is a set on my 617
Over the years, the finger grooves changed a few times, but the overall girth of the grips was pretty much constant

While I have carried that 66 quite often over the decades, these days I carry my F-Comp or if I am in a nostalgic mood, my late Step-Father's Model 19

The F-comp's grip does not show up well in that photograph, but they are a very similar profile to the old Factory grips

The Model 19 is Wearing Hogue's LE grips. That is Laser Enhanced. I find the grip's shape and feel to be very good, it is a shame that these grips are not also offered without the laser.

The Hogue Laser does have some nice features. Naturally, it does a constant red dot like all the lasers we have seen on TV.

It also has a blinking mode, the Human eye can see a flashing light more quickly that a constant light.

The third mode is called Stealth, the Laser blinks 3 times and stops. Releasing and depressing the button repeats the pattern. I am sure that will make most of the "It Gives Away your location" naysayers feel more warm and fuzzy

if your gun is a round butt the pacmayr renegade wood laminate stocks are on the larger size, very hand feeling, smooth or checkered and only around $35

The grips designed by Bill Jordan will fit large hands.

Herrett's has been closing out their inventory. Don't know if anything
is left or not, but it might be worth a call. Last time I looked there was
some Jordan Trooper stocks for an N Frame. Looks kinda like mine,
shown below, except mine are on a K Frame.

Yes,
That is a mech better grip picture than mine.

If you have a round butt gun, Iíll upload a photo of a Pachmayer grip I like for a rubber alternative. As for wood, I really like Culina combats. I think they are worth the money and I have them in several different woods. Enjoy.

Default wood grips for a S&W 66

I'm obsolete I haven't figured out how to do a picture even tho I probably have everything I need except experience. I have the original s&w rubber grips for 66-5 and pachmayers round rubber grips . All of the grips look great . The Jordan grips look like Blu Magnum Grips that I recall , they look hand filling and short enough for conceal carry . with all those good looking grips shown, It would be very hard to decide which is best suited . Are the Jordan Grips still on the market ? Thank You all for all your generous information .

Herrett's are still closing out their inventory of stocks. You can
call them at 208-733-1498 to see if they have what you want,
and to order.

Mr Jordan had HUGE hands. His beloved Model 19 looks like a J frame in his hands.
