J-Frames are my favorite. At present I have a bobbed 37, Two 442s (carried daily) and a 3” 36 that is close to perfect. This picture doesn’t show how nice the blueing is.

My only two J frames are variations of the 632-1. The standard black finish and the satin finish which initially was a Sports South exclusive. The grips came from Karl Nill.

This is my first snubby. A Smith and Wesson 637 .38 Special, rated +p, SA/DA revolver for my EDC. First time at the range with it I shot 300 rounds through it. I did pretty good once I got used to it. The target picture is from the very first shots ever fired from this snubby. The other gun the bottom of the last picture is an old Iver Johnson hammerless circa 1916.J-Frame Show & Tell-img_20200403_201130_01-jpg

Here is my latest addition to my J frame group.

A model 649 no dash, 38 Special.

Great pocket pistol.

Default New Altamonts for my 60-4

Did my small part to support the economy by purchasing new grips for my 60-4 3 inch target J frame.

My J frames.

Why: Because I like them, they fit my hands and are small enough to conceal.

342ti Because its light

Pre 36 Because it was cheap

49 Because its so ugly its cute

60 Because I always try to keep one

940 Because its a 9mm and I get free 9mm ammo

36-6 Because its scarce and looks like a baby 586

60-4 Just because

Pair of "Baby Chiefs" Because every collector needs one or two

642 (yes black 642) Because its ported, scarce, and was cheap

632 Because its scarce and I didn't have a 32 H&R Magnum

60-7 Middle Because I got it stupid cheap

I bought my first and only NEW S&W back in 1993 and it is one of these 442's. As mentioned before, these are like potato chips---hard to stop at just 1. You can tell by the different grip choices that each has a specific purpose and location---headboard, desk, lazy boy chair, car, truck, on me, on me, on wife.

The 3” brings back memories. Was the only new gun I could afford as a E4 in the Army in 1977. It shot accurate. The starter wife was REAL ACCURATE. She Impressed a few good old boys in Savannha Ga with it.
Love my 442. You carry 2 at a time or one in each room?

One in the pocket every day. The second 442 in the waistband is actually in rotation with the 3” 36 or once in a while a 7 shot 357.

I do love looking at all of these J frames. Here's one that's a little unique. A Model 36 no dash (1976-1977) in Nickel but instead of case hardened color Hammer and Trigger they're flash chromed. I bought it from the original owner and when I questioned him about the Hammer and Trigger he wasn't aware of the difference but said its always been that way. Anyway, I like the odd stuff.

I’ve been tempted several times to get a model 60 3” and a model 63. I’ve told my wife that’s all I need now and she always rolls her eyes when I do.

I had a 442 but didn’t care for it and a bodyguard back in the early 90 and wished I’d kept that.

I just had to add my model 34. I’ve wanted one for years and ran across a beauty in near new condition at a great price. I just couldn’t pass it up.

My favorite...I love it. NOT for the faint of heart. If one is sensitive to concussions, it will inflict a flinch.

So why this ^ one? Cause it’s sooo light it is the only thing I don’t feel in my pocket other than a 380. This is no 380.

I've always loved the older model 60's. Next to my 3" K frames, it's my favorite. The 642 is the perfect pocket gun IMHO.

Default Love me some J frames

Here are some of my J frames. 340 M&P and a 642. Sold the 642 and got the 340 M&P. Carries like a dream, light and low profile. Upgraded sight is nice too. Works well inside the waistband or in the pocket. I imagine on the hip too, never carry it like that though. Anyway, great thread!

I'd have to go with my LWS32 or even Kt P32 in order to get a lighter gun.

My fab five. The 36 is a Cabela's Library find at a good price. Lube was so old that they discounted it after me showing the goo dripping from the grips. Cleaned up fine. The 38 was also a good price at the indoor range I like. It sat there for months. I finally said "I'll take it home". The 60 was courtesy of Narraganset. I'm so glad he offered it up. The grips too. The 60-15 and the 637 were both Cabela's new buys, on sale, and the discount was nearly the cost of the CTC's on them. I've not shot the 38 yet, I may not. It is an airweight, and it is tight, but I just don't want to get it dirty.

Here is one of my 34’s. This one is without flaw and us easy on the eyes to me. Funny, I had it up for sale on here last fall with zero interest too. Anyway, I certainly probably like the J Franes the best of all. There is just something about them

Here is my new S&W 340 with D&L Sports J Frame Sights and VZ JFW-320-BG Grips. It joins the collection of M60's, 642's, and a 337.

I showed you all my 642-1 on the first page of this thread with a few of
it's favorite holsters. But, I have quite a few holsters with hammer protectors,
but my 642-1 of course doesn't have an exposed hammer to
protect. What to do? I could buy another J Frame with a hammer, but
being the cheapskate that I am I bought a little Charter Undercover with
an exposed hammer. It fits all the holsters made for J Frames.

Here are 5 examples, left to right:
Heiser 459 made for Evaluators

Wolfram "Wolf" brand made in Albuquerque where Wally Wolfram was a
police officer.

Wolfram "Blazer" made for G. F. Cake Co. after Wally had moved to
Monrovia, CA. and where he was also a police officer, and mentored
a young upstart holster maker by the name of John Bianchi.

Wolfram holster made for Smith & Wesson. Have another one made
for Colt, but it looks exactly like this one, except the stamping on the
back. After changing hands a few times, Wally's company ended up
belonging to S&W until they unloaded it on G&G.

Finally, a little carved "dog ear" by Myres.

This is my latest J-Frame (also shown in it's own dedicated thread).

It's a circa 1953 Baby Chiefs Special engraved by Clint Finley and sporting Ivory grips. I just couldn't pass it up.

Cheerio,

Roy

A Model 35 and a 940.

That's the long and the short of it.

Been shooting off and on about 10 yrs now. Just started getting into revolvers for the last year. Seemed like the logical choice for carry, SD, fun, fondling, etc...

So I got me a 36-10, classics line. Love it.

This 36-1 Nickel is our "safe room" gun.
OK, the bathroom with a heavy door and lock.
