Default 617 is up and running great

Just one of my test groups out of my 617 using CCI - Blazers at 25 yards off a rests. I've been having ignition problems with some brands but tested Federal HV and Blazers today as well as Eley Action Plus.

The Blazers always win out. The squares are 1 inch.

Yes and the Strain Screw is all the way in. Trigger pull is very smooth.

Yes, very nice shooting! That's the kind of group I was hoping to get with my 617-1 , still shoots pretty accurately free handed but the rested groups should be better. Might see about getting the crown cleaned up which might help.

I bought my 617 used earlier this year and it had misfires in DA shooting. I called Smith and they sent me a new main spring and everything was fine after that. The DA is now heavier but goes bang every time.

Mine is currently at the mother ship being worked on for the same reasons. I'll report back the cause but likely it's just getting a new main spring I assume. Misfired 50% of every cylinder with 6+ different types of ammo. I had a thread on here somewhere about that.

I too put a stock mainspring in my 617 to prevent misfires. I then put an 11 pound rebound spring to help get the lighter pull that I am use to. Polishing the internals is also a big help if you feel comfortable doing it.

Great shooting!

I just got my 617-6, the first shooting session yesterday was perfect. Smooth DA, not a single FTF, very easy extraction, very accurate with SK and Blazer 40 grain.

I have to get accustomed to a ten shot revolver. I kept checking the cylinder to see how many unfired rounds I had left

Got to get one of those Speed Beez speed loaders.

Get the DS-10 Speed Loaders from Revolver Supply Co. They have a new design that is even faster than their previous loaders and probably the fastest loader on the market. You can also get loading blocks and carriers from RevolverSupply.com.
