Default SW Parts Look Up

I must confess that I have not worked on revolvers for quite some time where I needed to look up part numbers, call SW for parts, etc.

I have a 29-4 where the floating hand needs to be replaced.

I went to the SW Website.... I am assuming the parts number on certain models section is gone as I could not find it.

Is it a phone call to SW or is the parts look up hidden somewhere?

if this has been posted and I am a few years too late.... my bad.

TIA

Gun Parts Corporation used to have schematics of S&W wheelguns. That's how I managed to get my extractor rod on my 986 put back together after it came apart on me.

Try them.

A couple years ago, I questioned a S&W service rep why they had no cylinders in stock for my 25-5, and was told they make money selling guns, not parts. About a year later, they had a cylinder for my gun, so I guess it's hit and miss on availability. In any case, they will not sell some parts to the general public that in their opinion require a skilled smith to install. I had them do my cylinder change for me.

If by "floating hand" you mean the hand that ratchets the cylinder around, that part number was 5426 according to my exploded view. There is also a wider hand available for guns with worn frame slots, but I don't have that number. Check with Midway, Numrich and Jack First if Smith can't help you.

Numrich is shut down for now.

I called SW and a clerk gave me the part number for a floating hand. I asked for a part number for a non floating hand that would work on my application. They put me on hold and came back saying non were available and to use the floating hand.

My goal was to verify part numbers as I have two in my cart for Brownells. I will just order the one from Brownells.

Very disappointing that the manufacture/parts dept is not what it used to be.

The floating hand is 078260000 listed for the dash 4 and the dash 5 hand is 210560000 and if you need that dash 5 hand oversized it is 210570000. The standard hand is shown as 074930000.

I have a S&W factory parts manual for both the revolvers and semi-auto pistols. It is dated 2004, so the guns made after that will not be included. I will be happy to help with looking up part numbers, so PM with your questions.
