Default J&G 10-7 frame, where from?

Just got my model 10 frame from J&G today, serial # AVY7836. In front of the trigger guard it is marked JP over 1280. Pretty good over all condition, not improved any by the CIA import mark on the TG. Has anyone determined where these came from? Likely some foreign police or security force. Got a 2" barrel from GB so next S&W gunsmithing class I take this will be a project.

I don't know if it's correct or not, but a couple of things I have seen online say they were from an order made up for the Jordanian police.

Jurassic Park, that's what Muldoon was rocking in that leather flap holster.

A couple of questions for you TrooperDan.
What kind of shape were the stocks in? Were they original wood? Beat up badly or also pretty decent?
The 10-7 is a non-pinned barrel, right?
I don't have a snub-nosed K-frame 38 special, so I've been seriously considering one of these.
Seems like I ought to be able to make a frame jig with a sanding drum in my Dremel tool, and a couple of hardwood blocks that will work well enough to install one barrel.

I made my own frame blocks and wrench. It is nat that hard. First set for N frames I made using aluminum, I used UHMW nylon to make the K frame set. My wrench is actually a piece of 3/4" steel round stock with a piece of angle welded to the end. The piece of angle is match drilled to another piece or angle. My blocks are held in place and then clamped to the frame with 2 3/8 bolts. I clamp the barrel in oak hardwood blocks in a vice. Good fitting hard wood blocks in a vice would work on the frame though. Then you could clamp the barrel in hardwood using a big clamp that you could use to turn it. Optimum? No but with care you could do it with and have it come out well. I want barrel so in turns and just starts to tighten up a bit before 90 degrees out. It does not take that much torque. Good luck.

Mine came with decent stocks as far as late model stocks go. In fact the whole thing is pretty nice except for the stamping on the frame in front of the trigger guard. I am going to tap the stamping out as well as I can with a 2oz ball peen, then sand it out. I have a small blueing tank I use outside in the summer. Have not decided on a barrel yet though. I have a nice heavy model 10 4" barrel in my parts pile. But, I also have a 19-3 357 cylinder in the parts pile also. A short barreled, fixed sight 357 K frame would be interesting
