Hood For Fastfire 3?
I finally got around to mounting a Fastfire 3 on my 3-5-7 range gun. With a J-Point mounting plate, it's very trim. I notice the Fastfire 3 came with a hood that fits over the sight and has plastic or glass at both ends. I'm guessing this may be for shooting in inclement weather, but does it also keep the powder gases from smudging up the sight glass? I have not used a reflex sight on a revolver before.

I don't shoot with them on my guns. I put them on for protection in the soft cases during transport. Not to say that they might be beneficial in some lighting conditions but I haven't experienced any.

I have never seen a FFII/III with a clear plastic 'see-thru' cover. Every one I've ever seen, or had, were solid and only used as a protective cover, whether it was a factory plastic one, or an after-market neoprene one.

The OP states plastic or glass ends. This way you can shoot with the cover installed.

The FF2's were solid, the FF3's have a clear panel allowing it to be used on the sight for shooting. I find it cumbersome, and it sits in the box.

Well I'll be dog-gone....I have never seen those! Just the original solid ones.
