Lew Horton 624 3" Barrel Holster
What was the story with these? I thought I remembered reading that the first so-many guns came with them. In my cursory research today, it appears that they may have been offered as an extra cost option, or may have been available for straight-up sale.
I have a LH624 complete with box (red C) docs and tools. I just bought one of the BLW624 holsters from eBay to enhance the whole package. How were these holsters sold/included?
Adios,
Pizza Bob

One of the forum members has a copy of the original ad from Shogun News showing the Lew Horton 624 and the holster. Maybe he will post it. There was a price for each.

Not the best pic Bob, but this is what I have. It looks like they were available for an extra 19 bucks.

When I bought my brand new Model 624 3-inch off Shotgun News back in the day, the holster was available but not included in the purchase.
I would bet that some suppliers sold them with the holster, but not all of them did.
I'm pretty sure they were made by Gould & Goodrich. I bought one at the time I bought my gun. I do see them for sale once in a while, here and eBay. The holster available with the Model 24 3-inch was a belt style. The holster available with the 624 was a pancake style. Both lined and very well made. Still have my gun and the holster.

THANKS 75Vette for posting the ad. Although snug, my 629 3" will also fit that holster.

I vaguely remember paying a nominal extra fee for the holsters.
Don't remember how much.
At the time there were few, if any, for 3" N frames (1985).
I wish I had kept the bags they came in which might have more information.
I got both the 24 and the 624.
Sold the 24 but kept it's holster (the duty style one).
The pancake is one of my favorites of all time and will carry the L frame 44's as well.
That's a Craig Spegel extended boot grip in ebony on the 624.

Is the grip for a K/L size or for a N size?

That's an N frame.
The 3" 624 was one of, if not the, first of the round butt N frames.
Mr. Spegel will make any size you want.
I traced both the butt frame and my hand and opted for the extra accurate fit option.
This entails him sending you the almost finished grips and you mark where the overlap is with a pencil.
Basically you trace the butt frame again on the inside of the grips and send them back for final finishing.
Needless to say, it's perfect for that gun and also shows how the frames changed over the years when I put them on a newer N frame.

Not sure about the 624 but if I'm not mistaken the first 500 Lew Horton 24-3s came with holsters. Here's the one that came with mine.

S&W 624 Holsters
Attached is a photo of two of the left hand 624 holster and original plastic bag(s). I purchased two since left handed holsters were tough to find for regular production guns, let alone a special addition 3 inch N frame.
Both are marked BLW 624LH on the rear.

3" Lew Horton .44 Specials & their Holsters
carelesslove, here!
It is always risky to depend on a 67 year old's feeble memory, but for some reason, I am thinking' that the M24-3 and the stainless M624 (3" Lew Horton's) were produced only a year or so apart - the blued version first, in ~1983.
They were "distinguished" with having their own holsters. The difference between the holsters was that the blued guns came with lined holsters (at least mine is) and it is still in the bag.
To me, this makes for a very desirable package - even if you don't carry them!
My 2 cents worth.
