Default What's the problem?

I love S&W's. I started buying them, I can't say collecting, because all I was doing was buying them back in the 70"s. My wife also started buying me one whenever she wanted to get me a present. She got me a couple of M29's, a M57 lots of K frames and the newest are a M586 and a M686. Also I got into single action shooting for a while so she started to get single action revolvers for me.

Fast forward to about one month ago! I was about to buy a very nice nickel plated M27-2 4" but I stopped and thought about the troubles and suffering in the world. I decided to give my M27 money to charity. I just didn't need anymore guns. But my wife to the rescue again, last week she got me a M27-9 4". So I've read and heard the complaints about the new S&W products with locks. However, I managed engineers and projects for many years and understand that to stay in business a company has to change. Regulation, material improvements or as manufacturing processes improve companies must make changes. Now for collectors, they are always going to want the oldest, rarest, most unusual, most expensive pieces that they can find. But for the average guy, the price is important.

So now for the bottom line. I am disabled and do not get to shoot very much. But considering my brief experience with this revolver, I LOVE IT. It's smooth, accurate, beautiful finish and I simply love it. I have to recommend it to anyone wanting a gun to shoot and enjoy.

Just look at Colt. They literally have 2-3 current production guns that anyone cares about, and one of those is the new Python --- which went away for nearly 15 years because Colt wouldn't budge on the needed changes to keep it price competitive.

Revolvers are always going to be a niche in this age of cheap autos. People want cheap handguns that hold lots of bullets; revolvers are neither.

Almost no enthusiast is crazy about the lock, but the finish of the blued guns made in this century is quite good. It's deep and durable compared to my Rugers and Kel-Tecs which have thin bluing.

Here's my 29-8.

That's only the second 29-8 I've seen; bought the first one I came across. Don't think there are too many of them.

I have 3 with the lock. Nothing wrong with any of them!

I do not own and have not owned anything with the dreaded IL.
Not because I have anything against the lock, it is just that I have not seen anything that has triggered my buy impulse yet.
The model 69 came close but I already have a 696 and I have no desire to shoot 44 mag out of an L frame.
Someday maybe, but the lock will not discourage my decision.
