Default 629-5 comp hunter

Picked up a 629-5 comp hunter a while back and recently had a chance to play with it. Mounted a red dot on an Allchin mount and sighted it in w/o the muzzle brake. For the load I use, really don't need it and prefer the shorter length for hunting. 210 Sierra JHC over a modest load of Enforcer that produces very good accuracy in all my 629s, no exception.

Sighted it in at 25 yards w/o any issues and decided to throw the comp on to see if there was any changes in POI just in case I decided to throw it on. Keep in mind there's only 6 holes total in the entire target face (25"X40") from sighting in, most in the 2" target dot. Send one down range w/ the muzzle brake installed and there's still only 6 holes in the entire target face. Send one more down range, same thing. For some reason the muzzle brake has changed POI enough it is off the entire target.

If I get time, will set the target closer just to see where in the POI is and if it's still holding a group. Checked the inside of the comp to see if there was any shaving or other signs that would cause an issue, nothing obvious. Took the muzzle brake off, put two more down range. Both in the 2" target dot.

Anyone have a clue what's happening?

Attached is a pic of a -4 comp hunter, same configuration as my -5.

I had that problem when sighting in a CMP M1 Garand at 100 yds. The first of three rounds was a couple inches to one side of the x ring but the next two missed the target entirely - until I took a closer look. It turns out all three went through the same hole. Wish they all shot that well!

You might check your target a little closer but shooting at a closer range should tell you what you need to know.
