Sounds kind of high for just a muzzle cap...

The 627 is just a model number the -3 is an engineering revision. Those two items do not tell us what the revolvers configuration is
Since you mention the muzzle cap, we can presume this is one of the 627 V-Comp offerings
But did you buy the 5" as pictured above? Or did you get the 3" version.
As pricing goes, that is a average deal on a 5" but it is a very good deal on the 3"
FYI, you can order a replacement V-comp from the Factory. When they tell you it is out of stock, insit on placing it as a back order. You will get it in 2 or 3 months
This one was missing the false muzzle when I bought it last summer. That is no longer an issue

Rayond, I decided many years ago to not be concerned about whether I got a bargain, what matters is how much you enjoy your new acquisition. The simple truth is that none of us will purchase an item that we believe is over priced, so why does in matter what others think.

Welcome to the S&W Forum, Rayond. That is a really nice revolver. I expect you will enjoy shooting it. I think you got a fair deal.
