Thumbs up Done (Price check 66-2)

66-2 6", not pinned, not recessed, with target grips. Used.

What would be a good price to pay for one of these today?

$700 is a fair price, anything less is a bargain. Check it closely for sloppy cylinder lock up, end shake, and barrel forcing cone errosion, check the trigger for proper function, make sure that a cocked hammer cannot be pushed off the cocked position with thumb pressure.

Thumbs up Bought it

Thanks everyone! Got it for exactly ten times the model number total price (660). Now waiting to exit jail. Comes with the original cardboard box empty (no papers, no tools) and a Bianchi #16L flap holster. Some quick phone pics at the store today and of the holster. The barrel is not canted (3rd photo). It's used and it shows it but everything seems to check out fine.

I see what looks like a little grunge on the top strap, near the rear sight, a faint turn line on the cylinder, but the stocks look near new. I'd like to see pictures of the forcing cone area and the recoil shield, but based on what you have posted, that is a very gently used Model 66. The flap holster, to me, indicates it was like carried as a woods/field gun.

Love the holster. And the gun.

For some reason it resembles my M66-1.

Hey that revolver looks quite nice !

I almost bought a 4 inch 66-2 last year in my high priced non-free state.
It was at an LGS. Bascially ASIB with unused target stocks that still had the sticker on them. It was wearing Pachs.
It was offered for around $825 and it had sat for a long time. Very long.
I offered $650 plus tax and reg fees etc.. It would have been around $735 OTD plus alot of to and fro travel time.

The LGS accepted and at the last moment I realized it was not pinned. I was originally hoping to match it with my 66-1 6 incher.
I got thrown off by the dash 2 designation of other non K models combined with blind anticipation.
Anyway I sheepishly and profusely apologized and declined.
It was a beauty indeed with box and docs and barrel cleaner.
No problem, a year later I picked up a ANIB 586 no dash for $850 plus reg fees.

You got a very nice revolver,in any event ! Congratulations !!
Thanks for sharing.

BTW that barrel alignment is spot on ! Incredible !!

Thumbs up And here's the 66

There is a cutout in the frame for a trigger stop but there is no trigger stop in there - transient change for 66-2?

The S/N is 115K-xxx - can anyone please help me date it?

As mentioned it arrived with its original box, empty (probably because it was in the flap holster inside and was no room left; personally I'm happier with this holster than the papers and tools).

Thanks everyone who helped with advice!

Here are few photos after I got it home:

Wow!! It looks really nice!!

My M66-1 has been fired a lot and I'd be willing to bet its been fed a steady diet of .357s.

SCSW #4 shows 115kxxxx as 1981 production for your 66-2. By the way nice gun and holster.

Shot? Yes. With hot 357 Magnum ammo? Evidently not. Great catch!
