460S&W Compensator- don't like it
I don't care much for the compensator on my 460V. Can anyone tell me where I can get a replacement, or an insert, or one that is blanked out (not ported)? Thanks.

Look in 500 Magnum Nut's FAQ's. He did it one for the .500 magnum. You 'll have to do some works for the changing.

I thought some of them had a removable, interchangeable. Guess yours doesn't?

IIRC, factory offered blank comps for 460 but not 500. Factory was out years ago but as mentioned, FAQ’s has info on converting the 460 to 500. Good luck finding one. I have one on my 500 and really like it.

As stated they are no longer are available from S&W and show up in secondary markets like ebay and gunbroker. Typically when available they sell for around $100.
As a side note: The 460 and 500 comps are not interchangeable without modification
I will check my stuff and see if I have anymore and let you know.
You can shoot the gun without the comp inserted to get an idea if what it is going to be like.

460S&W Compensator - don't like it
I disliked mine a lot too.
Fortunately, I was able to buy a blank comp converted from a 460 to 500 from someone on this forum, years ago I imagine it was 500 Magnum Nut, but honestly do not remember.
It really changed how much I liked shooting my 4" barrel 500 Magnum, makes the blast so much less, I shoot it with 350 Grain bullets and a VERY reasonable amount of Power Pistol, actually a bit under the minimum listed for this load I had found, believe me, still lots of noise and recoil, but more like a stout 44 magnum now.
Actually a VERY stout 44 magnum, but manageable.
I shot ONE only factory round through it and said that was enough !!
I have never tried the much more common 8-3/8" but would think the longer barrel would help a lot, it sure does on my 454 Casull's.
