640 Pro Serues
My 640 Pro Series is one of my favorite handguns. I carry it quite often when in plain clothes. Secure in its holster yet quick into action with it's short barrel and relatively light weight with the power of the 357 Magnum cartridge. Very quick from under a suit coat or vest. Even faster when fired at close range from inside a jacket pocket. That speed is the Lightening and 357 Mag is the Thunder. The moon clips must be heaven sent. An appropriate weapon for a holy warrior as it turns others into holey warriors.

I liked the positive ejection/quick reloads (with practice) my 640 Pro offered well enough I sent a Mountain Gun that is chambered in 45 Colt to TK Custom. Had it milled to take moon-clipped ACPs. Along with the 640, it didnt take it long to become one of my favorite S&Ws for carry.

I really like mine also. A set of Culina combats in birdseye maple arrived for it last week. I look forward to trying them out soon.

I've always been interested in this model... never got around to grabbing one up ... I really like the 640 look, but have considered 649s and 940s with no commitment...

Just my humble opinion, the 640 Pro is the best handgun Smith & Wesson has ever produced.

The 640 Pro is the best revolver S&W currently makes.

I don't have the Pro version, but I do have the much older -1 version. It was my EDC a couple of decades ago, but is now relegated to CCW when I need something more compact than my Model 6946. With a tuckable IWB, the Model 640 disappears from view. I find that mine is also concealable in a pocket holster.

I love my 640-1. It's been the gun I've carried the most over the past few years. One of these days I'll pick up a new one and it will be a Pro Series.

Yep, a prelock 640 Pro is yet another J-frame on my must have list! Very nice!

I like the Pro Series.
It is all I ever wanted in pocket carry size and with the .327 Federal Magnum cartridge it affords me six rounds of stopping power.
enjoy,

Only .32 cal can be a 6 shot in J frame. .38 is too big, so is 5 shot only.

Holster Options
With aging eyes the sights on the 640-pro are a huge improvement from my model- 60. The revolver arrived new from S&W, because of fit and finish it was refused. Two additional examples sent for before doing paper work. After approximately 500 rounds the revolver had potential so off it went for a complete overhaul to Marc@Gemini. The work was just as expensive as the revolver but well worth the investment. This revolver needs a good OWB holster, have read several older threads but still not certain with information previously discussed. Any recommendations exclusive to the 640-PC would be greatly appreciated.

My eyes read what I thought the post by Green on the .327. I read it as .357.
My bad.

I overflow with jealousy. That is, imo, the ideal carry revolver, but currently they fetch a kings ransom.

Mine is the base model, but a fantastic revolver. Quite a bit smaller than the original N frame ...

Exactly eight years ago, I stopped at a gun shop on the GA/FL line and left a 632 behind priced at $500. I just didn’t see it worth the hassle of transferring it to TN. That mistake is in my top five of gun regrets.

This is the next one on my short list, but a like new 37-1 is trying to sneak in front of the 640.

A 640 Pro is the only j frame I’ve kept, it’s been the best of the four or five I’ve had.
