Default S&W 3" Model 10

Hello everyone. This is my first time on this forum. I am the proud owner of a 3" model 10 square butt revolver, serial # BFR483X. It was produced for the Turkish Police in the very early 90's. It is 1 of only 88 over run sold in U.S. They were shipped to Accusport. My dad wanted to buy a short barrel model 10, and this is what my dad was lucky enough to receive. My dad recognized right away that this piece was special, so it's in unfired condition in the original box. It's been in my safe since my dad passed in 1999. This 10 has white front ramp and 2 white dots on the rear sight. I also have a letter from S&W from '91 written by none other than Roy Jinks. In this letter Roy was gracious enough to include "This is a very rare model 10 and that no S&W collection can be complete without it". What I don't know anything about is value. It's really in beautiful unfired condition. If anyone can help put a value on this piece, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks.

You need to post pictures of the gun, the box and the letter...

Nice!! I've own a 3" Model 64, but I'm pretty sure it's not as rare as yours. I would also like to see some pictures. Congrats!

Welcome to the forum, Bigdaddy. One of the regulars here, goes by the name of Smithnut, is sort of the resident expert on M10's. Here is one of his posts on 3" M10's:

Informal Case Study on the 3” barrel M&P/ Model 10 variants…

It will supplement the information provided by Mr. Roy Jinks and contains some information on your M10-9.
