Default Just put her in jail...my new TRR8

Just signed the DROS paperwork for this TRR8 and now for the excruciating wait period. The last PPT I did took 13 days to clear.

I can't wait to take this to the range. Already looking at different accessories for it. Anyone have a specific moon clip/holder they recommend? Or speedloader?

The best moonclips are TK Custom. You will need to get moonclips that are made for the brand of brass you're using. I use all Starline, but you can get different ones for about any name brand brass. Tell them what brass you have or will get, and they will send the right ones.

The best mooner/demooner is the BMT one. Way better than any others.
If you cheap out on these items, you may have problems. I'm pretty sure you will really enjoy shooting this one.

This is my first revolver with moon clip capability so I'm a newbie as far as moon clips go.

So moon clips are finicky when it comes to ammo brand and brass type?

You really will enjoy shooting it.
I use Ranch products moonclips. They fit Starline and Winchester brass.
You dont have to use moonclips. Just enjoy it.

Moon clips for rimless calibers like .45 ACP and 9mm are not finicky about brass as a general rule. About anything works.
Moon clips for rimmed brass like .38 Special are finicky.

The reason for this is that the rimless brass has an industry standard for the extractor groove. There is no industry standard for a groove on rimmed brass, it's just a relief cut to make sure there's no corner radius to interfere with headspacing. Every brass maker does their own thing on that cut. Also, the cut for extractors on semi-auto brass is wide and generous. The cut for rimmed brass is narrow and shallow.

@Protocoll_Design Okay, makes sense, thanks for the clarification! I wondered why some sites offered different thicknesses of moon clips.

Congratulations on your purchase. Mine is the most enjoyable shooting revolver I own. +1 for the BMT Mooner. It works great!

I usually measure the thickness of what came with the gun, then order that.
