Default 29-4 3" price check (Lew Horton?)

There has been a shooter grade model 29-3 or -4 (can't remember) at a local shop for some time. It has a 3" barrel, unfluted cylinder and rubber grips. I say it is a shooter because it has some marks in the finish but no real wear.

I am going to take another look at it tomorrow and will try to snap a few photos. It think they are asking $989, is that too much?

Default If it is as you say shooter grade, then that is high.

If it is clean, collector grade then not so much.

If it has a full underlug barrel, that may be one of the Lew Horton 29-4 special runs. There were a little over 2500 of these produced and even without box and papers, if still in good condition, fetch $1000 or more.

If it's been in the shop for some time the public believes it's priced too high. On the other hand I don't care what other people think about the price of anything. If I want it and have the money I think it's priced just right. Larry

I have thought it was on the high side and that is why I have let it sit, but I wanted to get some input. I see nice examples with box and papers selling on GB for a lot more, but haven't found a shooter grade copy that has sold.

So I stopped to look at the 29 and it turns out that it's a -4 and possibly a Lew Horton. I'm not sure that does anything for the value.

It has some scratches but no rear wear. It is mechanically sound.

If it's been sitting as long as you say then they might be willing to negotiate on the price. Personally I'd offer 850 cash and see what they say.

That might be a little high for some areas but someone that wants that gun will pay it. I’m not sure the 29-4 3 inch unfluted is a lew horton, I don’t think it is.
