This is the barrel on my S&W Model 617-6 Mountain Gun.

Looking at both of those 617-6's, they are both "crowned", but not recess crowned. The small ring around the bore is the machined final crown at the end of the bore. Just not the fancy larger recess or stepped crown. My 617-6 is the same.
