both changes were for comfort (my eyes aren't what they used to be, and the wood stocks that came with it where a little narrow and hurt my hand), but i do like the way it looks this way. i think the bigger grip gives it better proportions with the 5" barrel, and the modern materials still have a somewhat organic look (unlike throwing a red dot on a revolver, which still seems incongruous to me).
the sights and grips are both heavier than the orig parts, but i don't have a reliable scale to say exactly how much, unfortunately. wild guess it added about 2 oz.

LPA sights
Hi Geekeye,
How easy was it to replace the iron sights with the new LPA fibre optic sights? Secondly, what difference has the LPA's made to your scores?

The rear sight is attached with two screws. Dead simple.
The procedure for the front sight is, punch out the pin, tap the sight out of the barrel with a small mallet (you could use pliers if you don't care about marring it), seat the new sight in the barrel, drill a hole through it, and replace the pin. I used a bit of locktite to keep it from moving when i drilled.
You'll need a #54 drill bit, and if you don't have a punch the right size, you can carefully use the bit as a punch (get a two pack in case you break it).
As for aiming ease, these are absolutely amazing in sunlight, but they don't glow in the dark at all. In low light conditions they are still a slight improvement though. The rear sight has very positive clicks when adjusting. Overall I'm very happy with the setup.

Looks pretty darn cool! Love the unfluted cylinder. I have a 686-6 Pro Series, 5" barrel. How could you not like a 586/686! Bob
