Boats,

Is that a power port model?

The barrel looks long enough to need a bi-pod

Yes. 6 1/2 overall barrel length with port.

I bet that'll be a fun one to shoot. I have the ported 6 1/2" 629-4 Classic and is very balanced and great recoil absorber. Congrats Boats!

I just got back from the range and it's a good shooter. It liked the 45-270-SAA Medium HP going just over a 1000 fps.

Terrific! Thanks! Good to see someone else using their Smith in 45 Colt instead of letting it appreciate in the safe. I'm going to try the Matt's 45-270-SAA in my 25-7.

I've shot one of the PP .45 Colt 625s quite extensively. Very accurate out to 100 yards with 200gr H&G LSWC style bullets, except that it tends to be powder position sensitive with many of the faster powders. 800x works well to minimize the above situation, however, it meters horribly! One of the few times I find a electronic dispenser handy.

BTW, when I first saw what was to be my PP 625 in the display case almost 20 years ago, I thought it was about the most homely lookin' thang S&W had ever built. Power Port in front of the front sight, round butt combined with the longish barrel and the short cylinder flutes. Oy. Such is no longer the case! It's a thing of beauty whilst shooting.
