Question hangun safe for 4 inch L frame

for far too long I have been guilty of keeping all my guns in a full size gun safe, a nightstand or desk drawer was not safe enough. KIds, and now grandkids just can't be at risk, but without access, I am at risk? Most handgun safes seem to be designed for compact pistols or maybe a snubby, but what about a 9.5 inch 686 L frame. I need something that will work with a mid size revolver. Any suggestions. combo might be most reliable, has biomentric finger print been reliable enuf to trust. I won't be wearing a RFID fob so skip that option.

What has been working for the forum?

Go to lockerdown.com and search for the LD1911. It is 10" x 9.5" x 3" and has several lock options. Just sold 50 of the to a city government. If you are interested use code RGN for 10% off.

My 4” 681 is in a Fort Knox pistol safe bolted to the floor of my closet. It’s 13” wide, 10” deep, and 4” high. Has a mechanical Simplex lock. It’s super high quality. I can also fit two speedloaders and my Ruger LC9S in its Hidden Hybrid Holster in there

Default handgun safe for 4 inch L frame

Whatever I get must by 100% reliable. I choose revolvers because for the most part revolver = reliable. No safety, no mag release, no failure to eject or failures to feed. If my wife limp wrists it, not problem. If a perp jams me it won't be knocked out of battery. If it don't fire, squeeze again and it will.

Many of the handgun safes are getting bad reviews. It must open every time the combo is pressed, no doubts. mechanical simplex may be the ticket.

Based the reliability of of biometrics on smartphones I wouldn't trust any of them. I would go with a Simplex mechanical lock like the one in the recommended safe one post up.

V-Line is another quality safe with Simplex locks. Little cheaper than Fort Knox and they seem to have more options, like sliding safes and things like that.

Crucify me but I just stick it in the nightstand unlocked most of the time.

Edit: As I live in Marxifornia, everything I just said is fake. I dont have any guns.
Okay, two of the best lines I have seen this week for sure!

I agree with the first item. If people will be in the house (very rare for me - not counting various workers and I can watch them - I like to visit but I am not big on company as a general rule) then the guns get locked up except for whatever I have on me. But I keep loaded guns everywhere in very deep concealment - believe me, nobody wants to touch my bed, or yours, so I don't worry about unlocked handguns around the house, even the two under my pillows.

IMHO while the "handgun safes" might barely satisfy local laws, they are usually a huge joke as far as security is concerned! Haven't seen one yet worth anything! IMHO a GOOD hiding place or secret compartment is much better. If you need to comply than place your sheet metal safe inside a good hiding place - but somewhere easily accessible. I always worry about the cheap safes working properly and consistently when quick access is needed. Personally I feel as though they are a false sense of security and won't stop anyone determined to get in.

The cheap stack-on safes aren’t bank vaults, but they’ll keep unwanted hands and eyes of your guns. I can’t imagine a house-guess smashing one open.

But the Fort Knox one I posted a link to is in a way different class. And for $250, it’s not a Walmart safe.

Take a look at the FAS1 safes. The FAS1-Magnum or for a little more wiggle room on length the Magnum XL. All are 7GA steel.
