A gentleman that builds 1911's posted on FB today about the Holosun 507c. He had over 30k documented rounds thru his before it went down. It is his preferred dot site.

I am doing the same, but in 10mm. Just trying to decide between the Venom and FF3.

I have one of each. The Venom has more brightness levels for fine tuning where the FF3 only has 3. The FF3 has an 'auto' adjust setting and it works great. If choosing between the 2, I would choose the best priced one.

One of my favorite wheel guns is this pre lock 4" 629-5. It also sports the Raptor mount with a Vortex Viper. It's quite the shooter and easy to land shots at further distance with the clear red dot the Vortex provides. I would like to try one of those Holosuns soon, I like the shake awake feature and solar panel on some units which boasts years of continuous on time.
OP - was the 625-2 drilled and tapped by the prior owner or did you make the modification? I've been on the hunt for a later 625 4"/5" pre lock that is factory drilled and tapped for a good price but haven't found the one yet. Soon!

I've gotta go with hipower on the grips. Hard to imagine anything looking better on the 625. Wish mine had them.

That looks like a Weigand mount, I put the longer one on my 8-3/8" 629 because I might want to mount a scope on it someday.

My gunsmith friend drilled and tapped both my 629 and 625-2 at the same time using the Weigand mount as a template to get them the same as factory drill and tapping.

Yes, it’s a Weigand. I thought about the longer rail, but I already have 29-5 set up with S&W base and rings and Leupold scope. I also have a second set of the same rings and base NIB.

Did the Raptor mount involve drilling more mount holes?

The Raptor mount's holes line up with the factory holes. I have 4 to date.

If you're asking about my 625-2, yes because it was too early to get factory drilling and tapping. The Weigand mount that I purchased for my 629 was used as a template to drill both revolvers to factory specs. The factory began drilling and tapping receivers for Optic mounts in 1993, with the -4 engineering change in both the 625 and 629.

Be sure to give consideration to your intended use before selecting your dot sight. The size of the dot does make a difference. If you are using for target or hunting where you have time to line up the 3MOA will do just fine, but if you intend to draw from a holster and shoot competition where time is a must, go with at least a 6MOA or larger as you can "find it" much easier and fine accuracy isn't as important.
