Smith & Wesson 18-4 combat masterpiece 4" barrel
I have come across a 4" barrel Smith model 18-4 22LR. Looks fantastic and has original box. Manufacture date of 1983.
What are these guns going for in 90 - 95% condition? Wood grips, baughman front sight, etc.
I believe this is the last version in this model (ie. a -4). Is this gun more or less collectible thann the model 17?

I'm going to say $900 to $1100.
Nice guns. I prefer over model 17.

I'm thinking more in the $600-$800 range.

Of course condition to me is everything. However, if the gun is as stated I would say 650 to 750 tops. I know I bought a beauty of an 18-3 last fall for 750. The pinned barrel being more collectible. I have both a 17 and 18. Both - 3 models. You should own them both, but if I could only have one, it would be the m17 with 6” bbl. Both great guns but I would opt for the better accuracy at a longer distance and the better sighting radius. I also think the 17 will hold its value better. Just my .02

Completed deals on GB suggest $600 to $800, for an 18-4.

I'd say $600-800; that said I haven't seen one for sale locally in a good while.
I've bought 2 locally over the past 20 years ........ a shooter grade (90%+) and a safe queen....... I've been offered $1000 for the safe queen ( with elk stag stocks $160) no box or docs, by a friend ..... he and his wife both work and they have no kids.......
So how badly do you want it is the real question you need to ask.

FWIW I saw a 4” 18-3 in Reno 6 months ago with original grips, box and goodies for $799. Regret not grabbing it. I prefer the 18’s tapered barrel.

Everyone pretty much placed it in the 700 - 800 range which I agree with. I just had my Pre 18 out to the range yesterday and can't agree more with many that prefer it to the Mod 17.

I have found that I have better "shooter accuracy" with the model 18 over the model 17. It is quite uncanny how I am able to hit with it, compared to the 6" guns.

All I can say is enjoy it. I have an 18-4, I round butted it long ago, it has lots of missing blue. I have shot the snot out of it. I also have a pre model 5 screw 4" barreled K frame 22 with a fish hook hammer. I prefer my model 18-4. It is an old friend that taught me to shoot double action. It would be one of the very last if I was ever forced to get rid of a bunch of guns.
