Does anyone know the weight of this revolver ? It's a handful except with 148gr wad cutters.

The Sc/Ti 340s & 360s run 11.4oz so the 342Ti should be about the same.

SCSW4 lists 11.3 oz for the 1999 version, 12 oz for this model with UM boot grip, and 10.8 oz () for the PD variant with Hogue Bantam grip. My 342Ti is a later model, bought used with the S&W boot grip knockoff. Don't have a scale to measure this beast, but, yes, it IS a handful. This may not make sense but firing this gun is more painful than firing my M&P 340 with .357 ammunition. Hope this helps.

P.S. Almost forgot: must be careful with this model. Bullets can become unseated under recoil and move forward in the cylinder.

Just an FYI - my 342 says jacketed bullets only.

My 337 with Fiocchi 148 gr JHP's brings tears to my eyes when I shoot it

That's the problem with these 'flyweights.' You have to test several loads to avoid the dreaded "bullet creep." I have a 342Ti and a 337Ti. Each required a different load for problem-free functioning. You'd think the round OK in one would be suitable in the other. Nope.

My 317 is only 11 oz and carries 8 rounds. Doesn't hurt to shoot and no bullet pull.

(Oh, and I carry an extra 50 rounds in my pocket. )

How well does the 317 shoot vs another airweight? Great guns, but it’s hard to shoot something that light well.

Empty with factory grips my 342PD is supposed to weigh 10.7 ounces.

Does anyone think 148 gr wadcutters are ok in a 342TI ? It doesn't seem likely there would enough bullet creep to lock the cylinder. I could be wrong.

All of this is silly. Hell no to bullet jump in a 38 special Airlite. I shoot Buffalo Bore 125 and 158 full power load .357's in a 11.5oz 340 with no problems. Did have some crimp jump with Georgia Arms loads but that has been the only one. Never from any major factory brand ammo. (Fed, Rem, Win, Horn) I don't think you have anything to worry about in a .38 version. Hell, Shoot it to find out. I wouldn't have a worry at all.

Quickdraw, I don't notice the 317 being particularly different to shoot, compared to regular Airweights. But I do see that with the Airweights I'm just as accurate DA as SA... with the 317 I'm slightly better SA. Maybe that's where it shows?

Wonder if Nyclads would be okay, or would they gum it up?
