3" Ashland 66-2. Pics Added 7/31...
Just ran across one at my LGS today with a "ANB" prefix. Almost all examples I've seen wear plain black rear sights with a red ramp stainless front . This one has a black rear and plain black front ramp. Can anyone confirm this sight combination as being factory? It also appears to have an almost "bead blasted" appearance to the SS finish. I'll post pics when I get it home later this week. Pics Added 7/31

I would guess the front sight has been replaced; depending on how it looks it may be a factory part.

As as the revolver works correctly, a nitpick over something so individual as the sights is simply not worth it. A factory 3" is a nice piece and maybe the best of the M66. Factory or not, if the sights don't work for you they are a replaceable item and should be changed with alacrity.

My 3" Ashland Model 66-2 has had the sights replaced, the trigger smoothed and rounded, and the finish was buffed to a shine ... I love the way it turned out. It is one of my favorite S&Ws:
I look forward to the photos of your new 3"er.
Congrats,

And an $180 added bonus in a pair of "early"? Craig Spegel checkered Boot Grips.
Nice gun. I've got -3s and -4 would say that is a nicely customized 3" 66.
Back in the mid-late 80s these were the ultimate concealed carry revolvers..but were short lived (only about 5500 made over about 4 years) as they got blown away by the "Wonder-9" craze!!!!!

That is a real beauty!!! And... yes, I think the front sight has been customized in a way that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Great Photos by the way.
Thanks for sharing,

That is a really nice gun. I have a 6 inch Model 66 and it is one of my favorites. I do not own any 3 inch guns, but if I saw one at a good price, I would definitely add it to the herd. The Spegel grips looks nice too and I bet they feel great in the hand. Again, I don't have a pair of Spegels either. To sum up snakeman, since I don't have a 3 inch gun or Spegel grips, it would be great if you sold me your gun at a terrific price!
Richard, are you grips Ahrends? They look very nice too.
Larry

Yes. That is my favorite Ahrends style for a round butt K-Frame. They feel great in my hands.

OP beautiful gun. Also to answer your questions no the front sight is not original and also the gun has been refinished. Either way looks good and bet it shoots great.

Can't answer your question other than to say my 3" Ashland sn#AHL3XXX has the red inlaid ramp S&W sight in stainless.
This m66-2 is one of my all time favorite guns. Wife loves
it too.

I have an Ashland 3" 66-2, my serial starts with AJH I think. At any rate, my guns finish looks identical to snakeman's and I know mine is original. Really nice for my money.. Mike

Front sight replacement on 3 inch 66 is a fairly easy, straight-forward task.
