Give me an education
Looking for a revolver and came across this one. 686-1 stainless. It does have the M.
I don't know what I don't know!

That is about a good and solid .357 as you are going to find (assuming in good mech condition) you can study up on the M stamping. In short it went back to the mother ship for a recall. The 4" full underlug is a great platform IMHO. .38's will be very pleasant to shoot and .357's no problem.

A 4" L-frame 686 is IMO the best all around .357 duty/utility/ general purpose handgun/revolver you can have east of the Mississippi.
I've had at least one since the early 1980s

Most early ones up to -3's were shipped with target stocks with the speed loader cut out on the left panel.

Thanks, always heard they were good. Just needed to hear from the wheel gun crowd. I have fired buckets of .45ACP, as I get older l am looking to make shooting fun so I can shoot more.
I'll get some new dies and start loading .38 wads and have an extra house gun with some .357.
Now I just gotta talk him down some.

I have a 586 and the finish to me is perfect. I bought it new 38 years ago, it never went back to the mother ship for the recall. It has less than 100 rounds fired from it.
I am VERY reluctant to send it in for the recall because I don't want it damaged in any way.
If you have found one and your happy with it, buy it!!
