Default Tyler T adapters

What is the difference between the original T adapters and the ones that are currently made? Seems the originals draw a higher price, just wondering what the difference is.

As with anything lots of us humans don't have an abundance of patience. Therefore folks might pay a premium to get an item now as opposed to paying a cheaper price and waiting to receive the item.

Especially when they don't have any idea when, or even if, they'll receive them.

If I were to buy T-grips I’d happily overpay for secondhand. I’ll never deal with them directly again. Took over five months for them to ship (allegedly) and I never received them.

The older ones came in a cardboard lift top or end flap box and also had a logo or manufacturer's name stamped onto the left side. I try and match the approximate age of the adapter to the age of the gun and have paid a premium for the old ones.

Just check out BK grips. See the posts in the Classifieds. Fast shipping and reasonably priced. Can't "feel" and difference from a Tyler.

My check was cashed by them in February and I've yet to receive my two grips.

I'm really surprised that they haven't been jailed or at least fined for their business ethics.

I'm no lawyer BUT I don't think any laws are broken when they don't deliver in a timely manner.

That being said, the company makes a damn good product - I just wish they would be courteous enough to put on their website that the wait time is, for example, X number of months. Then, we can decide to order or not to order; that is the question.

My buddy is still waiting for one he ordered last October. Other than the cashed check, there’s been absolutely no contact from Tyler.

I ordered a set from them a few years back. Check got cashed and I waited my 6 months for it to come. Which it did. It is not like this is a surprise, guys. Been this way forever. If you are like me and only their product will do then you send your money and wait. Or, you try the internet and see if you can find a set. Then you pay extra for it. If you gotta have it NOW, then talk to BK. I just have no interest in polymer T grips. I find it rather amusing that people still complain when this has been the Tyler MO for decades now.

Exactly! The difference in price is that the secondhand ones actually exist, while newly ordered ones likely never will exist.

Most Tylers were aluminum while most moderns are made of plastic.
Tylers also had two undergrip U shaped hangers while most modern one have only one too the best of my knowledge?

One BK in the hand is better than 10 Tylers that may never come.

I keep telling myself to do this for my model 65, then I forget to order and remember I was going to order one when I see another Tyler T thread. I find it amusing as well. But I do have a BK on my 64, I like it fine, had to buy some Altamont grips with black in them so the contrast didn't drive me crazy.

While BK grips are much more reliable and readily available, I personally prefer the Aluminum Tyler's. I WISH BK would make them out of Aluminum!

Thankfully, I believe I've got all I need and some extras for good measure.

I like the look of the Tylers better, but the BK's, with two sets of tabs, opposed to Tyler's single pair of tabs, seem to rest more firmly in place.
Has anyone here tried calling Tyler Manufacturing, to ask about wait times and production runs, before sending the check?
Also, relatively new on Tyler's site, they are offering refunds to those who no longer wish to wait.

BKs are a lot more customer friendly than Tylers ever could be easier to order also.

I believe you have that backwards. My BKs have 2 clips. Tyler only have one.

I didn't know T grips were hard to find, I have one on an old warhorse model 60 that was carried from 1970/1971 until retirement by my dad, (both as an off duty and a duty gun), and then by me for another 23 years as a backup / off duty gun until it was forced into retirement. A total of 40 years or so of duty.
I still use it as a concealed carry gun occasionally so it is now going on 50 years of use.
Never been off the gun as far as I know. Not sure I would be able to remove it if I wanted too.

It was because of this thread that I went ahead and ordered a BK grip last week. I arrived today and I installed it on my 10-7 (square butt, standard bbl). Seems like a quality product. I haven't fired it yet, but it makes a huge difference just in gripping the revolver and in dry firing. Honestly, it makes me wonder why S&W shapes the grip frame that way. So many aftermarket grips close in the area between trigger guard and grip frame.

I tried to make a deal with them. If they'd send me a t-grip, I'd send them the money whenever I got around to it.

So far I haven't heard back from them.

If an improved T-grip adaptor out of aluminum, with different color options, were made, would their be enough demand to justify development costs?

Personally, I don't care for plastic adaptors on my steel and wood revolvers.

Asking for a friend...
