Lost in the engraving
I was trolling around the LGS and found this M66 "engraved" in one of the cases. Knowing absolutely nothing about the engraved, I still found this intriguing. I spent the better part of 30 minutes looking for any initials or markings and found nothing. The attendant took off the grips and nothing in regards to engravings or initials. I doubt this is factory engraved but if anyone can shed any light on this, it would be great.

Factory or not, it is very nice
As long as the engraving speaks to you and you feel the price was reasonable, there is nothing wrong with it. There are lots of your fellow Forum members that own guns that were not engraved by the Factory. Just do it, don't second guess yourself and don't ask everyone if you did OK. Be happy that it is a gun you can appreciate
BTW, look under the cylinder release for initials. That is a common hiding place
Many years ago I came across an engraver at the Tulsa show. He had two snubbies (686 & 624) on his table that he engraved in the same pattern. His price was great but I only had enough money on me for one. So I bought the 686 and promised to come back for the 624 the next day after I hit the ATMs.
Well I could not find him that next day, it is an 11 acre room after all. The point of the rambling is if you like it grab it.
If you wait for other folks to push you one way or the other, you could miss the deal altogether
I did not know it at the time, but mine was one of the first 2 1/2" 686s that were made as a Lew Horton Exclusive

I like it. I'd love to find something like that priced so that it could be a carry piece. Oh well! It would need an exceptional holster.

I know little or nothing about engravers, but it appears to be well executed. It is just a pretty gun. I would buy it if it was reasonable and I had the money. Lots of knowledgeable members who know their engraving. Maybe RKMESA will weigh in.

Thanks everyone for all the information, after looking at the engravings of Jeff Flannery, I am also convinced it is the same. Based on the price tag though, I thought it was engraved by George Washington or Abe Lincoln.

To bring this story full circle, the LGS was asking $4200 for the gun but took an offer for less. I was not the buyer.

I’ve noted a number of Flannery auctions on GB; most I’ve liked, some strike me as odd.
