So I wandered into an LGS I never go to and sha-zam! There's a new 617-6 4" sitting there at a reasonable price: $709. Yep, I'll take it. It's in three-day leftist wait purgatory right now, but I'll have it early next week. Yeah!!

If I could find a .22 LR GP-100 with a trigger like that, I'd pay a lot more then $400 for it.
The problem, at least for me, is that every .22LR GP-100 I've ever shot have had HORRENDOUS (IMHO) triggers, and I have yet to find one that I'd want.
I'll keep looking for that "Unicorn" GP-100 .22LR, that you seem to have found, but I won't hold my breath.

Sorry I upset you. I was surprised as well. I heard that some of the early GP .22s were problematic, so when this one came up I checked the SN and found it was only a couple months old, so I bought it sight unseen. The price was too good to pass up.
I guess they screwed up in the factory when they built it.
Funny thing, over the holiday weekend we were at camp sending a lot of lead into the ground. Side-by-side were my GP and K22 and I couldn't decide which one I liked better. Even the wife liked it.

I took one on trade couple years ago like new, 4” no holer. I did shoot it, I usually don’t bother with stainless. Gun shot and functioned fine. Guy I traded it to swears by it.

I picked up my 4" 617-6 from the LGS today. I haven't shot it yet, but I really like the gun. Unfortunately, it's got a trigger only a liability attorney could love, so that'll take some working on. I've got a Weigand mini-mount and an Ade Advanced Optics mini-red dot on the way for later this week. This should be a great gun for .22 Steel Challenge.

That's the one thing keeping me from buying right now. I was hoping for something in the same $400 range of the SW22 Victory pistol. All 7 of our current handguns are S&W but I may consider other brands in this case. Just looking for a shoot a lot range gun that can shoot both SA and DA with a 4" barrel.
