Mr. Wonderful
No offense intended but they surely remind me of RUGER grips, well done but have the RUGER appearance.

Thanks, man.
I didn't make them from scratch. They started out as these New Grip For S&W, K/L FRAME ROUND BUTT CHECKERED HARD WOOD OPENED BACK | eBay
These looked huge on the K frame and I didn't like them. I sanded them to the shape I wanted and to a size I think matches the gun better. I sanded off all of the checkering, and the rest is a paint job and tru-oil for the wood grain.

haha no offense taken. They do resemble the Ruger GP100 grips, with the black and wood grain center.

I'm a sucker! I thought they were rubber grips with a wooden insert, as they were in Ruger GP100.
So, they are all-wooden and black painted. Nice, interesting, with that Rugerish look

Very well done, and creative.
Thanks for sharing, and for doing something different. There’s not enough of that these days.

Not a thing wrong with them. But Ruger-looking grips on a S&W just look wrong to my eye. Probably doesn't help that I don't like the Ruger grips to begin with.
Very nice, clean looking work. As above, beauty is in the eye of the beerholder.

Different, but kind of cool. I think you did a very nice job of it. That must be why the girls call you Mr. Wonderful - you're good with your hands...

Wow! I didn't see that coming. They do look alot like Ruger GP100 grips, and that is a compliment for me as I really like the stock GP100 grips a lot.

When you have sanding ability like mine, the ladies will let you just grab them by the .......... hand.

Thanks for the honest replies, guys. I like the grips, but they're not my favorites. Just something a little different.
Below are some more grips that I reshaped some, just not as dramatically -starting with the same type ebay cowboy grips.

They do have a Ruger personality.
I like the wood paneled grips for the GP100 as opposed to boring black rubber grips.
Have to say I had to look at them for a few minutes, but in the end I like the look.

I customized some grips for a Taurus 65
This is what the gun looked like when I got it...
Firearms | Taurus USA
I polished the trigger, hammer and ejector, then customized a wood grip --if anyone's interested, I'll post a picture of what the grip looked like before I changed it.
The pictures don't capture it, but the glossy part of the grip is a dark reddish/purple wood grain.

Great craftsmanship!
However, making a S&W look like Ruger GP100 is... heresy?

I did some for a Ruger SP101 too -did grips that look similar to the GP100.
Dunno how familiar you are with the sp101, but they come really short grips, so I made some bigger ones that look kind of like the GP100s.

They're S&W grips, they just have a color scheme that Ruger uses on the GP101. I don't want a S&W to look like a Ruger.
I have a bunch of grips, man. They're just something different. I think they look ok on the model 66, but think the orange wood grips I posted above look much better on that gun.
I do think those black grips at the top of the page would look really good on a blued model 19.

Like I said, excellent craftsmanship, Mr Wonderful.
In defense of Ruger, I find the stocks on the GP-100 and Super Redhawk to be a perfect fit for my hands and they really seem to soak up the recoil of full power magnum ammo.

They look good, but the dichotomy of Ruger-ish grips on a S&W is making my brain hurt.
