I own a couple of 686's. I installed a Wilson Combat spring kit in my 686-5, and absolutely love what it has done.
My question: I installed another Wilson Combat spring kit in my 686 no dash, and while I love the trigger pull, now it appears to have push off? Is this due to the main spring, or does this have to do with the rebound spring at 12#???? Will this go away with the higher rated rebound spring? I don't want to own a gun with push off, and will replace all the springs, if that is what's wrong.

To my understanding, push off (the sear not holding with forward hammer pressure when cocked) has everything to do with the engagement surfaces and nothing with the springs. The surfaces can be recut or new parts may be needed.

Yep - properly stoning the trigger will fix it (usually). Not sure how to explain it, though.

Go to the Gunsmithing forum, there are instructions for correct stoning to fix push off. A weak rebound slide spring will make push off show up faster. Push off is caused be the sharp edge of the trigger to sear engagement being slightly rounded (usually by wear, or someones attempt to lighten the trigger).

Put the stock springs back in, and it still has the problem. I could've sworn I checked this before buying. Since it does not have the "M" mark, I think I'll send it back to Smith.
