That seems about normal for a Pre-Lock version...those 627 and 629 UDRs routinely seem to be in the $1750-2500 range when they are sold. Just about any Performance Center snubby is bringing big money these days.

627-5 had the lock. Back before the lock versions were made, the 627 PC Bloodwork guns were selling in the $3500 and up range. The lock versions were less than a grand when they were introduced. I would guess that the lock version devalued the no lock version, but not enough sell to know, it seems. If I remember correctly, there were 302 627-PC guns made.

Pretty gun indeed. Looked to be New Old Stock from the pictures-came with case and paperwork. I thought long and hard, but in the end cheap won out. I have a 686-4 seven shot in 2.5" already and spending north of 2k for an extra shot didn't make as much sense as just buying a speed loader for it

My own 627-5 PC was in heavy local competition monthly for about a decade. It remains my most accurate revolver. I wouldn't be selling it anytime in foreseeable future.

Have a 627 PC 3" barrel V-Comp bought new in 2002. Don't know what the value is today. Short barrel L frames seem to bring big dollars.

The 627-5 was not the original Blood Work Gun. The original was a limited run for Lew Horton made by the Performance Center and named "The Ultimate Defense Revolver". These are N frames. The movie gun was a modified version with a fluted cylinder. The originals were produced in 1998-99 and were frame stamped 627-PC. Serial numbers started at HMA-0001 and production was supposed to be limited to about 450 guns total, but only about 300 of the originals were produced. The American Historical Foundation also produced a small run of heavily engraved guns. Here's some early product info:

Lew Horton may have intended it to be a limited run, but S&W has continued to produced them in various engineering changes. There's at least one other pre-lock version (627-2?) and the IL equipped version is still listed on their website today and has an MSRP of under $1100.

Miine is from the original Lew Horton run and is the 10th gun produced by serial number (MHA0010). You notice a gap between the top of the hammer and the frame. This peculiarity was changed on subsequent versions and is unique to the first run guns. Values on originals are down a bit, but they stills seem to bring $2K-$3K. Until very recently, IL guns brought $800-$900.

IMO, you're lucky you didn't win the PC 627-5 for $1500.

Thanks. I have the original shipping box, the aluminum PC case, and paperwork for mine. Have never fired it.
