Default Wood grips on new classics?

I recently purchased a new classic M48. It has Altamont wood grips. These grips seem to be thicker than the grips on my classic M29 I purchased a few years ago. I need to dig the 29 out and compare. I realize that's N to K comparison. I hope SW listened and started making the wood grips a bit thicker.

Any wood stocks I get on a newer revolver come off. I replace them with real S&W target stocks, or a full size aftermarket set. It is what works for me. Bob

S&W does not make their own stocks. I don't know what year this came about. Bob

The grips that came on the 48 feel thicker than the grips on the 29. I would normally change out the grips too old new stock but Smith might have made some changes. Yes I know Smith farms out the stocks to Altamont.

Altamont grips are typically a little thicker, which is the way I like it.
My model 60 pro came with Altamont grips,
but I changed them out for the thickest that Altamont makes.

Maybe they are a little harder to conceal,
but I get a better grip.
YMMV

I ordered some Altimont grips, and the old guy that took my order said that they had been making Smith & Wesson's grips for a long time. First thing I did when I got my .500 was to order some grips from Herretts. I cant stand rubber grips on my revolvers.
