I bought a 64-4, two inch from LGS about 10 years ago. No special markings. I really don't know dates on the dash models so I might even be in the wrong forum.
I'm wondering if this model can shoot +P ammo. I have some +P but no standard .38s. And these days I can't find any ammo in Kansas City or on line.
The current S&W web site says the model 64 is +P rated. Can anyone comment on the 64-4 era models?
I'm just adding to discussion, I'm not a Smith & Wesson expert. My model 64-2 2 inch bbl revolver was made in 1983. I have no qualms about shooting +P ammo in mine on a limited basis. I shoot light target loads through mine for fun shooting. The model 64 is a very nice revolver, IMO.
In about 1958 S & W stated that any model numbered steel K frame in .38 Special was + P approved. At that time these would have been the model 10, 14, 15. 20 and 23 but they approve stainless K frame .38s too.
