Last week I purchased a brand new 29-10 6 1/2'' . Really lucky to have found this revolver. I always wanted a 29 blued revolver, but I wasn't interested on getting an used one. Yes, I know it has the lock, but it really doesnt bother me. I think the benefits of modern manufacture and technology can really outweigh the benefits of the true classics 629-3 and bellow.

Now my co-workers telling me that they are rare, which I agree they are not as common as the siblings 629's, but how rare?

This one was manufactured in May 2018, and also received by the store in June 2018. It literally has been sitting there for two years just waiting for me. LOL

Anyone has any idea how many 29-10 have been made?

They are much less common than the 629 because modern shooters want the low maintenance of stainless.

There was the four screw frame run in the 2000s. I don't know if there are total production numbers but they are low. As for the more recent 29-10s, I doubt you're going to get a running total out of anyone. My SWAG (scientific wild-***ed guess) is in the low to mid thousands based on demand and frequency seeing them in the wild.

Welcome to the forum. There were several odd runs of the 29-10. One was a 50th anniversary edition with a gold plated logo, 6 1/2" barrel & a wood presentation case. Then there were the 4 screw models with 3" barrels. Another rare version was engraved at the factory. If yours is a plain jane 44 then probably not rare but I bet it'll be a great shooter.

Mine came with the wood presentation case and some cleaning accessories, but it is not a 50th. The question about how limited they are, really started because I read an article that although they are currently listed on the S&W website on their current line up. S&M has made one in the past year and half or so. It may be just pure speculation as mine has a production date of May 2018. Given the current state of the firearm market were handguns and ammo are hard to come by. Im so glad that I could find this one, pretty much by accident.

I bought a 6-1/2" 29-10 earlier this year. They are very nice guns. I like it so much that I am planning to buy a 4" 29-10 to go with it. No real need for a 4" 44 magnum...I just feel like they should be a set!

I have that very one and it gets shot just like all of my guns. It's a very nice gun and has been problem free. It sure can take those bowling pins off the table too.

I heard you. I already have a 69 4 1/4'' that is my camping/hiking gun and also goes to the range on regular basis, but if I find another 29-10 with the 4'' barrel I would not hesitate to get it. Not a real need for another .44 mag but they are so nice. Really beautiful guns.
