I would like to get my s and w 500 magnum with 8.3” barrel hunting ready.... can someone recommend a mount and rings? Also, scope Brand/magnification recommendation....I am new to hand gun hunting and will be hunting whitetail in Georgia. Thank you!

Weigand mounts will hold any scope on a 500. I have been using a 2x Burris and it has held up to everything I have thrown at it. I would keep the magnification low. The higher magnifications are hard to use on a handgun without a rock solid rest.

I recommend a 2.5x8 Leupold; Leupolds are the only scope I have make it past 100 rounds and they warranty without question.

These scopes typically last about 6000 rounds before the reticle gives up.

I typically use three rings to secure the scope to prevent scope creep.

I have a Burris 2x on mine, in Leupold rings in a Leupold mount. I have had this scope on the gun for 10 years now, and has not given me any trouble.

How many and what type of rounds

Not to be a Nay Sayer but yet have any Burris last (4 of them) more than 100 rounds on an X-frame.
