Default S&W 66-3 6”, round or square butt

Question fellow enthusiasts. Just picked up a 66-3 with a 6” barrel. It has rubber grips (hate rubber grips.)
Anyways, i should have removed them to see if it is a round butt or square butt. I did some searching on out site and believe it to be a square butt being 6” and older than 1995. Safe to assume so i can replace those ****** rubber grips with some wood?
Any input is much appreciated. Waiting to complete my paperwork in the meantime and wanna get a jump on different stocks.
Thanks everyone!

Yes, a 6" model 66-3 will be a square butt. Happy stock hunting!

I'm rather partial to the lighter colored smooth targets on stainless guns. I like the feel of the smooth stocks. The standard later model checkered ones feel too blocky in my smallish hand.

Thanks fellas! I really appreciate it. Strongly considering these smooth altamonts...
I agree though on the lighter color wood such as the walnut vs rosewood though...
Decisions. Lol

I don't think I've ever seen a round butt on a 4 or6" 19 or 66.

Might have happened though, not the expert my wife thinks I am.
