Are the 242/296 the only non J frame hammerless guns?
Were they the only hammerless non J frames ever made? Odd they skipped the K-frame if so.

Other than the .38 Bodyguard which isn’t a J frame, they’re the only ones I can think of.

Yes, the 242 and 296 were the only other and largest (L Frame) of internal hammer models S&W produced which was in 1999 IIRC.

In the era of this subforum, yes. But plenty of early .32 and .38 Safety Hammerless revolvers from the later 1800s to early 1900s.
