Congratulations...one of the best "small" guns S&W ever made...

When they were being made I had the chance to buy both the silver or black models for about $650....now they start at $1500....

One of those S&W really needs to consider making again... Ruger is going to make the LCRX3" in .327 but right now just too over whelmed to bring them out...

Bob

I wish that S&W would produce a line of 327 mags. I would be in for an alloy J frames. Say a 2 1/2" barrel. I would carry one of those before a 5 shot 38 special.
I like those 32. The wife now carries a J frame that I reworked to 32 H&R.

Problem is the general public just don't get the 32s. They will buy plastic 380 autos by the boat load though.

Shoot a cylinder of the 100g full power variety - it WILL get your attention!!
These run at 20% higher pressure than a 357 magnum.

I missed the boat on this one, I had an opportunity but just didn't like the ported barrel. I have both a 431PD and a 432PD which are 32 H&R Mag airweight 2" J Frames, and a 16-4 in 32 H&R which is a tack driver. Several I know have reamed out the 16-4 for 327, but i have no actual need for it as I no longer hunt.

Oh baby, you're gonna love that little hotrod!

Here's mine, with friends . . . It's the one in the middle. You might as well get some fat Pachmyer cushioning stocks for it right away and save your middle finger! Trust me on that.

Enjoy it,
Scott

I'm a .32 junkie. Have the S&W 632, Ruger LCR, & Ruger Blackhawk in the .327 Fed. A dual cylinder Cimarron 32 H&R & 32-20, A S&W 631(?) in .32 long, and 2 of the Beretta 81 .32acp. Like all of them. But little ones are a handfull! Love shooting the Blackhawk.

I've carried a 632 in 32 H&R for a number of years, with Buffalo Bore 100g +P ammo that actually chronos with a bit more muzzle energy than Remington's 38 Special +P 158g LSWCHP round. (Both out of 2" J frames on the same day over the same chrono setup.) It's plenty of gun, and lots of fun to shoot with lighter practice rounds.

I thought I'd like a 327, but couldn't see paying the current prices for a S&W, so I got a Ruger LCR in 327. As 505Gibbs notes, the full power 100g loads (from Speer and, I think, Federal) are eye opening in a gun that size. They reminded me of the one (1) round of 357 Magnum I've shot out of a J frame. Never again for the 357/J frame combination for my old hands and joints. And although I shot several dozen of the full power 327 loads in the LCR, I've decided no more of that either. I much prefer the size and layout of a J frame, just haven't gotten around to selling the LCR yet.

The rest of the factory 327 Federal loads that I shot all chrono'd below the energy of the 32 H&R Buffalo Bore loads I already carry. So I can't see the value of a 327 J frame for me as a carry gun. I get all the power I need in 32 H&R ammo, and shorter cases which (I think) are slightly less likely to stick during ejection than the 327s.

BTW, the hot 327 Federal loads are REALLY LOUD! I'd be concerned about some hearing loss if I ever had to shoot one of those without a good set of ear protectors on.

This. And the report will deafen you without good hearing protection. I have a 616 6" built by Bowen. One of my very favorites. Can't imagine a small light short gun with full loads.

YES! Fired one round with the LCR without getting muffs on at a smaller indoor range. My big mistake, now have 30% hearing loss in one ear, less in the other.

I was able to get a spare cylinder for my black hawk and rechambered it to 32-20.

I subscribe to the 6 shot .327, .32 H&R over the 5 shot .38.

True I missed, but my model 31 has a 32 H&R cylinder that gets by and my model 16-4 has a 327 cylinder. I have a whole drawer full of I and J 32s. I will get a 327.

I’m still dreaming of finding a 631 with 3 or 4” barrel and adjustable sights... “Hope springs eternal...”

For 327, IMHO, the revolver S&W should have made but never did, is the “616” astainless K frame in the factory hot rod of 32 cartridges. Mine is an all time favorite. For those who mention the decibel level of firing them, yep it’s loud all right! Snappy to shoot and powerful where it hits. Great caliber.

This is the one I got after I gave my 30-1 away.
My sister needed it so I let it go.

But, I found a direct replacement...

I am also a minimalist.
More barrel length on this style, to me, is unnecessary. For it's intent and purpose more barrel would have no discernible impact on the performance.
Also, sights. Who needs sights? Surely I don't need adjustable rear sights and the front sight? Meh. Ok, it's there. For what I propose for this style of firearm it doesn't need to be there, at all.
All opinions posted are MINE.
And, I am sticking to it.

enjoy,

bdGreen

If (when?) Black Hills Ammo was to offer a 32 H&R MAGNUM load using it's new honey badger bullet, well that would likely prompt the return of the now heralded 431PD and 432PD j frames by Smith & Wesson. Corporate has to be pondering over bringing back one of the company's most useful firearms ever. The catalyst is the honey badger bullet. Do more with less. That ought to sell some guns.
